Carol S. Christ

Watercolors, Oils, Acrylics and Artist's Books

Carol began her art career by coloring on walls at age 2. Her medium of choice was Crayola in Periwinkle. At age 3, she incorporated paper into her work. By age 6, she had moved into grown-up media with paint-by-numbers. During her kindergarten through high school years, she experimented with many forms of art, eventually winning a couple of competitions.

She  graduated from The Peck School of the Arts at UW-Milwaukee where she studied oil painting under Tom Uttech, fibers under Ruth Kao, ceramics under Anne Kingsbury and artist’s books under Max Yela..

While she has a preference for watercolors, being originally more of an oil painter, she has often returns to that medium as well as acrylics, casein and the occasional artists' book. She likes to paint whatever grabs her at the moment and then choose the medium that seems the most fitting.

One thing about her work has become clear — she loves detail. According to Carol, “If it’s worth doing it’s worth over-doing!”
