Valuing Art

We often overhear new art buyers questioning the cost of work. When the cost of the framing, glazing, assembly and materials (can be upwards of $400 depending on size of work) are taken into consideration along with commission to the gallery (20 -60% of retail) this does not leave much for the artist's time. Art school...

Stocks are volatile and, let's face it, boring to look at. If you choose art well, you will have an object that holds or increases in value while giving a lifetime of pleasure. Invest in an award winning artist who uses archival materials and you will have art that lasts and is easier to resell...however, almost no one sells their art. They love it too much. They hand it down for generations. Fine art makes a great legacy.
